The Electric drive: unique in the high-pressure test market

The shortcomings of the air-driven drive prompted the development of a new technology. The challenge was to find an alternative drive that is energy efficient and tests cleaner, faster and more accurately. The result: the electric drive.

An air-driven pressure test system is the traditional way of testing. This type of drive can be used for a limited test range. A test machine with an air-drive will need three or more air pumps to meet the need for sufficient flow and pressure. In addition, with air there is an energy loss factor of seven to eight. Eight times more energy is lost. This makes it the most expensive medium to transfer power from A to B.

Stepless from 10 to 6000 bar

Developments in the hose test market have created a need for a larger test spectrum: from small to large test volumes to low and (ultra) high test pressures and any combination of these. An air-driven system only covers a very limited part of this spectrum.

This need from the market was the reason for the development of the electric drive:  the E-drive. With the E-drive you can stepless control the pressure from 10 to 6000 bar. Every test system with an electric drive has a low pressure pump and a pressure booster. This set up is the same for all test systems. The E-drive is ideal for companies that test a lot or companies that test across the entire spectrum.

The differences between the E-drive and a test system with an air-driven pump:

  • Test faster

    With the E-drive, the available test power for the test object is higher than with an average air pump. You can test much faster.

  • Lower energy consumption

    Energy consumption is up to eight times lower than with an air-driven machine. This not only yields significant energy savings, it is also much better for the environment.

  • Lower maintenance costs

    Due to the use of high-quality ceramic materials and the prevention of implosion, there is less wear and therefore less maintenance. With the E-drive, maintenance costs are considerably lower.

  • More accurate testing

    The E-drive does not use air but liquid (water) as medium for the drive. Because of this there are no unpredictable pressure peaks (air can accelerate unexpectedly). The process of the pressure increase can therefore be better controlled and is therefore a lot more accurate.

  • Cleaner air

    An air pump uses an average of 1500 to 3000 liters of air per minute. Sucked in from the outside. This air is sucked in and travels through the mechanical compressor, peripheral equipment and the piping system. The polluted air eventually ends up in the workshop. Where the staff is at work. The difference with the E-drive? There are no emissions of polluted air.

  • Quiet

    Unlike the air pump which makes a loud noise, the E-Drive remains below the standard and has a more pleasant sound.

  • Reliability

    An air drive is not suitable for continuous use. The E-drive can test 24/7. With the E-drive, the down time is reduced to a minimum due to its reliability.
